Low-power broadcasting is generally legal in most areas of the world. And there is allot of "airspace" of several different mediums that should be available to us all. American society is supposed to draw the line when it comes to any such activity (in a form of speech or not) which results in detriment to the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness of any citizen. For example, terrorist violence, i.e. the Unabomber (whose primary motive was speech, Kazinsky was killing to be heard). It's a shame there wasn't a radio station nearby to serve as an outlet to his frustration through free speech. Call-in talk shows usually hang up on guys like Ted Kazinsky. A pirate radio station would likely have given him an hour show of his own! |
